Welcome
We are so happy you are here! Here at McKinnon Collective, we are all about family + community. Here's a little tid bit about our story and the story behind our brand.
Meet the McKinnons
Both of us come from a family of dreamers, creatives, inventors, and entrepreneurs like ourselves. From Adam's Nana being a Professional Watercolor Artist to Danella's mom owning a vintage/antique business. We dreamed to do something more than our 9 to 5 job as well as combine both our creative sides. So in 2019, we applied for our business license and participated in our first ever market. And we did it all a month before our wedding! Which, we don't know how we were able to manage. But, fast forward to the present and you are looking at two full time small business owners.
Adam has been working in the leather and cut + sew industry for 9 years. Adam first learned how to sew on his Nana's 1957 Singer. Adam's interest in sewing started from watching a Youtube video on how to make ball caps. Adam has always been interested in the construction and design process of everything. So, he would experiment using different materials to make ball caps and purses, which led into working with leather.
Danella is a former educator and health care worker, which is very helpful for customer service and staying organized! Danella's interest in marketing started back in her Tumblr days and designing fun bulletin boards for her students and their parents. Danella enjoys handling all the logistical and backend work of the business.

The Story Behind Our Bags
You will notice that we give a name for all of our bags. Each bag is named after friends and family because we would not be here without them. They have encouraged us to follow our dreams and prayed over us. They have lifted us up, when we have doubted ourselves. And most of all, supported us in so many ways that we are forever grateful for them.
Modern + Minimalistic Designs
We create and design for the everyday person. We make sure all of our products are versatile. So they can be used for either travel, going out, and/or for everyday.
Plus, we keep the designs simple so it can be affordable for everyone. We absolutely love seeing customers wear our products at markets or in public. Or when customers send us pictures when they gift one of designs to a friend or family member. It brings us so much joy that you love our work as much as we do.

Community Building
We are all about networking and building relationships among local makers, artists, and small businesses. Whether it's sharing their work, commenting on their post, referring them to great local markets, relating to the highs + lows of owning a small business, and so much more.
We are eternally gratefully for the many friendships we have made in the small business community. McKinnon Collective would not be here without y'all as well.
In Spring 2022, we will be launching a new networking platform for small business and local markets soon!
